Rotarians at the Miraflores Greenbelt Volunteer Work Party
Each year the Richmond Rotary supports a wide variety of community service projects. Our Richmond Rotary fiscal year is from July 1-June 30. The support we provide can take the form of hands-on volunteering, funding of a grant request or both. The Application for Financial Support can be downloaded from the right hand panel of this page.
Funding Priorities
Richmond Rotary primarily funds projects in the city of Richmond and secondarily West Contra Costa County. Our grants include: purchase of equipment/supplies; camperships/scholarships; event sponsorships; educational programs for youth; and other community based programs.
Richmond Rotary does not provide funds for staff/personnel and political events.
We only fund organizations once per year.
Grant Amounts
Funding requests generally range from $250-$2500 and will be evaluated by the Community Services Team with final decision being made by the Rotary Board of Directors.
It is the general practice of the Club to grant not more than $1000 to first time applicants.
Rotarian Advocate/Sponsor
Each Grant Request must have a current Richmond Rotarian as its Advocate/Sponsor
It is the responsibility of the Advocate/Sponsor to work with the requesting organization to insure that the grant request is complete and contains all the information needed for Rotary to make an informed decision. If a grant is successfully funded, it is the responsibility of the Advocate/Sponsor to insure that funding has been used per the grant request. It is also the responsibility of the Advocate/Sponsor to document (pictures, invoice, etc.) the completion of the project and assist with posting of the completed project on Richmond Rotary’s social media pages.
Funding Cycle
Richmond Rotary will accept Grant Requests throughout the year, but will only make funding decisions three times a year: August, November and March.
To ensure timely review and disbursement of funds, all grant requests must be submitted at least one month before each deadline.
These timelines allow our board adequate time to evaluate and approve grant applications prior to your event or project date. To receive funding in time, please plan ahead and submit your request within the appropriate window.
Late submissions may result in delayed funding or ineligibility for the current cycle. If your event falls close to or shortly after one of our windows, we encourage you to apply in the cycle prior to ensure timely processing.
