Creating the Black Wealth Builders Fund

NOTE: This meeting takes place at La Strada Restaurant, 2215 Church Ln, San Pablo. Lunch is $30.
In response to long-standing barriers to homeownership, the Arlington Community Church created a fund to help our Black neighbors buy homes through a zero-interest loan fund. Susan Russell will talk about how and why this project was started, and what has contributed to its success.

Shay’s Haircare Clinic

Shay’s Haircare Clinic is the first haircare clinic in Richmond solely dedicated to providing African American children aged 8-17 with the tools, resources, and education they need to care for their naturally curly, kinky, and wavy hair. Julie Persons will share information about the Clinic and the mission.

Rotarians at Work | Volunteering at GRIP

Richmond Rotary Member Florian Santos volunteers at GRIP Greater Richmond Interfaith (Housing houseless families) and represents Richmond Rotary Club. She teaches a parenting class twice a month at GRIP and privately coaches GRIP parents individually. The shelter provides housing for eighteen families including 48 children.

Booker T Anderson Pickle Ball Court Celebration

On June 11th, the East Bay Pickle Ball Association held a Booker T Anderson Dedicated Court Celebration yesterday ribbon cutting for the new pickle ball courts. Richmond Rotary made a contribution to the cost of the new courts. Thanks to all who made the first permanent pickle ball courts in Richmond a reality!!

Community Services Team Accomplishments 2023

On June 9th, we celebrated the accomplishments of the Community Services Team with a fun “Mahalo Party”. Special thanks to Don Lau for being a great Chair to our Team and Yenny Garcia as Vice-Chair. Collectively, the Richmond Rotary club gave an estimate of over $70,000 in 2022-2023 to 30+ organizations locally and internationally.
