Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) is an evidence-based approach used to treat individuals with substance use disorders, particularly opioid and alcohol dependence. It combines the use of FDA-approved medications—such as methadone, buprenorphine, or naltrexone—with counseling and behavioral therapies. The goal of MAT is to reduce withdrawal symptoms, cravings, and the risk of relapse, while helping individuals achieve long-term recovery. MAT is recognized for improving patient outcomes, reducing overdose deaths, and promoting sustained abstinence, offering a comprehensive treatment plan that addresses both the physical and psychological aspects of addiction.

Scouting America – Opportunities for Richmond Youth

Boy Scouts of America will become Scouting America in February 2025. This change signifies that Scouting is not just for boys anymore.

The Scouting program provides outdoor activity, community service, civic engagement, leadership and team skills, but most of all, a positive place for youth to learn and grow surrounded by community and positive mentors.

These are all things youth in Richmond deserve to have access to, yet there are no Scouting units in Richmond. Why and how can we change that.
