Richmond Fire and Police Toy Program Food Bagging Volunteer Day

๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽโœจ A Heartfelt Thank You to Our Amazing Volunteers! โœจ๐ŸŽ๐ŸŽ‰

On December 16th, we witnessed the true spirit of community during our Richmond Fire and Police Toy Program Food Bagging Volunteer Day! Over 50 incredible volunteers came together to pack more than 600 grocery bags filled with love and support for families in need this holiday season. ๐Ÿฅซโค๏ธ

Huge shoutout to all the fantastic groups that joined us: ECHS and our local high schools, the Richmond Youth Academy, Chevron, the 23rd Merchants, the Richmond Police Department Community Ambassadors, the Richmond Police Department Chaplains, the Richmond Police Officers Association, the Crime Prevention Program, Contra Costa Services Bureau, Richmond Rotary, and so many others! Your dedication and hard work make a world of difference! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ’ช

Rotarian James Carlisle Beaver III January 6, 1949 โ€“ November 30, 2024

Richmond Rotarian Jim Beaver, a longtime journalist and public health advocate in West Contra Costa County, died from cardiac arrest Nov. 30, 2024, in Palm Desert. He was 75.

Civic engagement was integral to Beaverโ€™s success both as a journalist and community leader. He was active in the Richmond Rotary Club and served as its president from 1996-97.

Beaver also will be missed by many admiring friends and former colleagues. His son Christopher Beaver summed it up best: โ€œHe was smart, he was witty, he was kind, he was curious, and he was cool.โ€

Rotarians at Work | Plant to Plate

On December 4th, Ruthie Abelson Olivas and Shawn Dunning presented a check to Kelli Barram, Plant to Plate, to fund internsโ€™ stipends, helping them to build their resumes and open doors for further employment opportunities.

The Plant to Plate Internship Program mentors, empowers, and prepares high school students to enhance their skills and advance their employment opportunities through training in organic gardening and the culinary arts.

They provide an integrated experience that builds job and life skills, fosters resilience, and fosters meaningful engagement in the fight against climate change.
