GRID Alternatives
Griselda Jimenez

We are a non-profit organization that makes solar energy accessible to those who need it the most. We
educate homeowners on reading their energy bills, improving energy efficiency, and applying to our free solar program.

Our goal is to reach income-qualified homeowners across the state, with a strong focus on the City of Richmond. We currently have resources available to help residents participate in a state- and city-funded energy efficiency program that supports community-led climate efforts, particularly in areas like Richmond that are disproportionately impacted by environmental and air quality issues.

Richmond Shimada Friendship Commission Youth Friendship Ambassadors

Richmond CA Rotary Posted on March 15, 2025 by Nakele RechenauerMarch 24, 2025

We are excited to once again host eight Youth Friendship Ambassadors and two Adult Friendship Ambassadors from Richmond’s sister city of Shimada, Japan. We would love to introduce you to the Shimada Ambassadors and share more about our annual youth exchange programs, including our summer Richmond Friendship Ambassador program for high school sophomores and juniors.

Sister City relationships are an essential part of a commitment to global peace and friendship. In-person exchanges are an invaluable tool for bridging cultural differences and creating lifelong friendships. Richmond has one of the oldest active US-Japan Sister City relationships in the country, thanks to the dedication and participation of many volunteers and supporters over the last 60+ years. We are so grateful for the Richmond Rotary’s support in our mission!
