Centering Empathy and Creating Joy in Your Leadership and Your Life
Misha Safran
Leadership thrives on empathy and joy. In this interactive session, participants will learn to transform their leadership by integrating emotional intelligence, compassionate communication, and inclusive practices. Leaders will discover how to wear their Super CAPE© (Compassionate Communication, Assuming Positive Intent, IDEAB Principles, and Empathy Before Accusation) and cultivate a culture of connection, trust, and belonging.
Through real-life stories, practical tools, and engaging activities, attendees will gain skills to model empathy, navigate challenges with grace, and infuse joy into their leadership. This session provides actionable steps to create a workplace where relationships flourish, morale is elevated, and both empathy and joy become central to a thriving organizational culture.

We would love to introduce you to the Shimada Ambassadors and share more about our annual youth exchange programs, including our summer Richmond Friendship Ambassador program for high school sophomores and juniors.
Sister City relationships are an essential part of a commitment to global peace and friendship. In-person exchanges are an invaluable tool for bridging cultural differences and creating lifelong friendships. Richmond has one of the oldest active US-Japan Sister City relationships in the country, thanks to the dedication and participation of many volunteers and supporters over the last 60+ years. We are so grateful for the Richmond Rotary’s support in our mission!
